Love this quote. I think it’s important to realize that hope is not an idealist’s fantasy – it’s anchored in reality. Even though you may not be able to see the reasons for someone’s hope (which may lead you to offhandedly remark on how stupid/unreasonable/naive they are being for having said hope), this is very likely to be because you haven’t had the life experiences to form such a lens to view the world. Therefore, you should shut your mouth, in case the hopee is still in the early stages where they haven’t yet fortified their hope to make it unassailable.
